Spiders give me a case of the jibblies, which is a major bummer because I love spiders to bits. I don't think it's due to an incident; it's just a natural phobia. I do recall this dream I had once as a toddler however of two spiders the size of dinner plates. Each was clung to one of my legs. It's a very clear memory too. On my left leg, a black widow, and on my right, a lynx spider. There I stood between the front door and the kitchen closet, blood running down each leg as my mom was on the phone panicking. ..Wow. Now that I think about it maybe it was caused by the incident and isn't a general thing. I only wish I was as knowledgeable about spiders as I am insects. Maybe then I'd be willing to be more friendly with them, and less spending-half-an-hour-trying-to-seal-it-in-a-jar-and-releasing-it-as-far-from-home-as-my-little-legs-will-take-me. Over the years I have been doing some self therapy, and lately, much to my delight, I am comfortable with small spiders. I even held one in my hand a few days ago. It's a start. It isn't much, but it's a start.

Oh hey, apparently it's my birthday today. Didn't really have anything big planned, but I bought a bunch of shirts from Hot Topic with their birthday discount, after which I went to Sticky Fingers Bakery to get me a few cupcakes. That alone took a big chunk out of the day as Sticky Fingers Bakery is quite far from home, but I wanted vegan cupcakes and I wanted them today! I did get a few StreetPass tags on my 3DS while I was out today, and those few lucky people got the special achievement today for tagging someone on their birthday. :3 As for gifts, I was expecting none, but I did receive some. From my coworker Jonica, four adorable My Little Pony figurines; from Cat, thirty bucks with which I bought me a Pillow Pet (the pink triceratops); and from Shelby, an Ulala doodle via the 3DS Swapnote. Also, from the Pokémon Global Link, I got me a Togekiss! Happy birthday, me. |

It's been on my to buy list since its release for Valentine's Day, and I finally bought it yesterday: a pink 3DS. Charged it overnight, and did the system transfer today. I~ like it. I'm currently using my old one for self streetpasses. Only missing 3 hats in the Mii Plaza! Anyway, I thought I'd mention a few games coming out this year that I'm looking very forward to.
Animal Crossing 3DS
Title pending as far as I know, the inevitable release of Animal Crossing for the 3DS was a main reason I bought a 3DS in the first place. If I have half as much fun beautifying and maintaining my new town as I did in City Folk, I'll be one happy camper.
Guild Wars 2
With the countless years spent playing the original Guild Wars game, I've already accomplished enough to unlock the maximum bonus stuff in Guild Wars 2. And that's quite an accomplishment. It may take time to get used to the new game play, but it will be worth it. This may be the first MMORPG where I won't play a healer; it's time to give the bow and arrow a shot. It's something I've wanted to do for awhile now.
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
The Kingdom Hearts series is just amazing. And although I'm not expecting Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance to be as enjoyable as the PS2 games, who knows, I may be in for a surprise. As long as the game play is similar, I'm certain I'll enjoy it.
Lollipop Chainsaw
Rated M for mature. I'm somewhat surprised I'm looking forward to something with as much violence and strong language as Lollipop Chainsaw. I'm willing to overlook it by the following factors: A. The main character is a cheerleader. B. There are loads of zombies. I have been on a major zombie kick as of late and crave more zombie action. C. Lots of pink and hearts galore when swinging that chainsaw around! D. The main character is a cheerleader. I simply can not resist!
Mario Tennis Open
Mario Tennis Open makes up for my disappointment of the lack of a Mario Tennis game for the Wii. The Mario Tennis games were among my favorite games to pass by the time. I'm especially looking forward to being able to play online this time!
Pokedex 3D National Dex
Coming to Japan in July is an update to the Pokedex 3D, with all the Pokemon! It won't be free, but I'm willing to spend a few bucks should it make its way for a US release.
I'm sure there are a few other games I'm forgetting to mention, but these are all I can think of for now. Kid Icarus: Uprising is tiding me over for the time being, and with Mario Tennis Open coming out in less than a month, I think I'll be okay for awhile.

I've been holding back on this, but I really need to just get it out, especially after last week. So our work schedule is from 6 to 2:30. That schedule, including an unpaid half hour lunch (and an additional half hour of paid break time), gives just enough time to get the job done right. However, they count showing up at 6:30 as being on time. The result? Everyone aims for 6:30, and thus, do not arrive until closer to 7. On top of that most people take half an hour or so to sit down and eat breakfast, despite our boss telling us numerous times that that is not allowed. They then do a half-assed job (which is clearly noticeable when I look at their work areas), often take a longer lunch break than provided, and then leave at 2:30 (sometimes a few minutes earlier), and still get paid for a full 8 hours! Now I take a lot of pride in my work; I like leaving at the end of the day knowing everything in my designated work area looks its best for the day. So it's annoying that I show up at 6 on the dot every day (usually I show up ten or fifteen minutes earlier), get straight to work, and then, to make up for that hour of lost time that my coworkers didn't show, I often either end up working through most (if not all) of my lunch, or I end up staying late. The only good thing out of all this is that I notice that my superiors notice me heading to my workstation at 6. I notice that they notice everyone else getting started an hour later. I notice that they notice me working through my lunch. I've gotten comments many times from both my boss and several of my customers about how pleased they are with my work. So it's good to know that I'm being noticed. It's just so frustrating that they don't do anything about it.

( Attack of the 50ft Cheerleader! ) I am so looking forward to this movie! |

Excluding the obvious - clothes, my glasses, house keys, and the three 'ards' (nards, innards, and ID cards) - the following list is of my top five necessities which I cannot leave home without:
5) Something to eat. As a vegan, you can't always expect to just grab something convenient from the nearest food joint when hunger decides to creep up on you. Not saying it's impossible, but the odds are 50/50. That's why I pack a Larabar or some other energy bar of sorts.
4) My cell phone. With the ringer off. For emergency use only. Because two things on my List of Annoyances (to come in a later update) are loud and obnoxious ringtones, and people who talk loudly into their phones to update their friends, family, or dog on every minor detail of the latest haps. "Hey, Jimmy just asked me to the prom!" "I can't decide on whether to get the soup or salad!" "I just saw a funny bumper sticker that made me think of you!" And of course, the most frequently used line of them all, "Can you hear me now? Can you hear me now? Can you hear me now?" ..Although I guess Twitter and Facebook apps have replaced that era. Now people just have their faces buried into their iPhones. And no longer make eye contact with anybody. And are becoming less friendly with their surroundings. Anyway, moving on!
3) Cigarettes. It's not that I dislike people who smoke; some of my best friends are smokers. What annoys me is common discourtesy that they- oh, wait. I forgot, this was an anti-homebound necessity list, not my List of Annoyances.
3) Not cigarettes. Despite the popularity I'd get out of them, they'd give me cancer. And make me smell bad. I'm on to you, cigarettes!
2) My wallet. While I feel that this should be in the above excluded obvious items, I know way too many people who leave home without this one. Any explanation on the importance of toting my wallet shouldn't be necessary; it's all about the contents.
1) My 3DS. Because my next street pass could be right around the corner. Puzzle Swap and Find Mii II aren't going to complete themselves!
So there you have it, Dahlia. My top 5 things I never leave home without. So until next time, everybody. Don't forget your wallets!
